Soma Axon

A body scan you step into, once a week.

Cameras, thermal, EEG, ECG, body composition and grip, all in one closed pod. It's the same instrument every week, so when a number moves, you can trust it.

Soma Axon concept render: a round cabin wrapped in knit under a glowing crown, its door slid open on a light oak inside with a ceiling light, a camera band, a screen and a floor plate

Concept render. The pod is still being built.

  • Light, warmth and cool air

The recovery part of every visit

  • Cameras

Pulse, breathing and your skin, read without touching you

  • A closed cabin

The same light and camera angles every week

  • Floor plate

    Body composition and balance

Everything in one closed pod.

The light and the camera angles are the same at every visit, so when a number moves, it's because something changed in you.

  • 52

Whole-body reads a year. A yearly check-up gives you one.

  • 1

Account for every pod, whether it's in our studio, a longevity clinic, a gym, a workplace or a pharmacy.

  • 0

X-rays, CT scans or other ionizing radiation.

What a visit reads.

One visit covers your skin, heart and breathing, body composition, balance and strength. Every value comes with its margin of error.

  • Skin

Cameras photograph your skin all the way around while you turn a quarter at a time. You keep dated photos to look back on and show a clinician.

  • Heart and breathing

The cameras read your pulse and breathing without touching you. ECG takes its reading in the same visit.

  • Body composition

Read through the floor plate with a very small electrical current.

  • Balance

Read by the floor plate while you stand still.

  • Strength

Your grip, on the pod's two steel grips.

  • Thermal and EEG

Thermal imaging and EEG take their readings in the same few minutes.

In and out in the time it takes to get a coffee.

You change in a private room and stand in your underwear, with nothing strapped to you, turning a quarter at a time so the cameras can photograph your skin. You leave with one calm number.

  1. 1

    Arrive

Someone from Soma welcomes you and asks how you slept, when you last ate and whether you trained. Then you change in a private room.

  2. 2

    Stand still

Hands on the grips, feet on the plate. Cameras, light and contact sensors read you in a few minutes, and you turn a quarter at a time so your skin is photographed all the way around.

  3. 3

    Recover

Warmth, cool air and mist, light, sound and a slow breath. This part is for feeling good. It isn't meant to treat anything.

  4. 4

    Leave with one number

The pod shows you one calm number. Everything else waits in the app, explained in plain words.

Between visits, the app keeps reading.

The pod does the full read once a week, and your phone and watch fill in the days between. It all fits on three screens, and every score shows what moved it.

How are you, right now?

Read on your phone, so there's no network to wait on. Your watch and your phone already measure you all day. Today sums it up in three scores and one next move the second you open the app, even in airplane mode.

Two stress peaks this afternoon took your energy to 42. Ten minutes of slow breathing and an early night bring it back by morning.

Questions about the pod.

What does the pod measure?

Your skin, heart and breathing, body composition, balance and strength. Cameras photograph your skin, while thermal imaging, EEG, ECG, a floor plate and a pair of grips take the other readings, all in one visit. Every value comes with its margin of error.

Is it like a full-body MRI or CT scan?

No. The pod uses no X-rays, no CT and nothing else ionizing. It reads you with cameras, light and sensors you touch. It isn't an MRI either, and it doesn't take images of your organs. Full-body scans, compared sets the kinds side by side.

How long does a visit take?

About as long as it takes to get a coffee. You stand still for a few minutes while the pod takes its reading, turning a quarter at a time for the skin photos, then the recovery part follows.

Why every week?

One reading on its own doesn't tell you much. Taken the same way every week, readings show what's changing and how fast. That's 52 whole-body reads a year, where a yearly check-up gives you one.

What do I wear?

Your underwear. You change in a private room, and if you'd rather, we'll give you a fitted garment to wear, though the skin it covers won't be photographed. There's no cuff, and no needle unless you add the blood test.

Is Soma medical care?

No. Soma is a general wellness product. It isn't a medical device, and it isn't cleared or approved by the FDA. It isn't intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. The Terms of Use say so in full.

When can I try it?

Not yet. We're building the first prototype of Soma Axon now. Join the waitlist to hear when the first pod opens and when the app is ready for you.
