Using Soma with Apple Watch

Nothing to pair: wear your watch and its readings reach Soma through Apple Health.

There's nothing extra to install on your watch. Wear it as usual. It writes heart rate, heart rate variability, sleep, workouts, steps and more to Apple Health on your iPhone, and Soma reads them from there.

Get the most from it

  • Wear it to bed. Soma's sleep and recovery scores come from your nights. Turn on Sleep in the Watch app on your iPhone (or in the Health app, under Sleep) so your watch tracks sleep.
  • Keep wrist detection on. It's in the Watch app, under Passcode. Without it, the watch takes fewer background heart readings.
  • Charge it before bed or after waking. A watch that dies overnight leaves a gap Soma can't fill.

When readings look late

Your watch syncs to your iPhone on its own schedule. If today's numbers look behind, open the Health app on your iPhone with the watch nearby and unlocked. It usually catches up within a few minutes. Numbers look late has more.

Watch and another device

If you also wear a ring or use a sleep pad, both may write sleep to Health. Doubled or mismatched readings shows how to choose which one counts.
