Doubled or mismatched readings
When two devices write the same thing, tell Apple Health which one comes first.
If you wear a watch and a ring, or sleep on a smart pad, two devices may write the same thing to Apple Health. Health then has to choose which to count.
Set the order
- Open the Health app and tap Browse (on newer iOS, the Search button at the bottom right).
- Pick a category, like Sleep, then the metric.
- Scroll down and tap Data Sources & Access.
- Tap Edit and drag the device you trust most to the top.
- Tap Done.
Health counts the top source first and fills gaps from the others. Soma reads the result.
A device you connect later goes straight to the top of the list, above your iPhone and your watch. After adding one, check the order.
Which to put first
- Sleep: the device you wear most reliably every night.
- Heart rate: a chest strap during workouts beats a wrist.
- Weight and body fat: your scale.
The quality marks on each source in the Vault can help you choose.
