HRV or heart recovery is empty
HRV is read overnight. Heart rate recovery is read after a hard workout on Apple Watch.
Two heart readings stay blank until the right kind of session reaches Apple Health.
HRV
Soma reads HRV from overnight and quiet moments. Until it has enough, the line says Fills in after seven readings.
- Wear Apple Watch or a ring to bed, with wrist detection on.
- Give it several nights. One reading isn't a usual range.
- Open the Health app, find Heart Rate Variability (Browse or Search, then Heart) and check for values. If none, Soma has nothing to show.
See Heart rate variability (HRV).
Heart rate recovery
The empty line says Read after a workout with Apple Watch. Apple writes Cardio Recovery only after a workout where your heart rate got high enough.
- Start and end the workout on the watch, not only on the phone.
- Stay still for a minute after you stop. A cool-down walk before ending the workout gives a smaller drop, or none.
- Outdoor walks, runs and cycling are the sessions that usually qualify.
See Heart rate recovery.
If both stay empty after a week of nights and a hard session, check that Soma can read Heart in the Health app.
