Trends: what changes what

How Soma links causes and effects in your own days and how to read a Trends card.

Trends is the second view in Pulse. It looks for what changes what in your own data.

What it compares

  • Your sleep length against that morning's HRV and Energy.
  • A hard day's Strain against the next day's Recovery and resting heart rate.
  • Your steps against that night's Sleep score.
  • Daylight against when you fall asleep.
  • Your tags (Alcohol, Late meal, Late coffee, Screens in bed, Sauna, Meditation, Hard training) against the next morning's Sleep score and HRV.

Reading a card

Each card reads Driver → Outcome, the strongest first. It shows how much the outcome moves, in its own unit, the values on high and low days and how many days went in, like "20 long vs 20 short nights". The colour says whether the effect helps or costs you.

Tap a card for 90 days of history, with the driver's days lit, and four facts: the difference, the noise around it, how strong the link is and its timing (same night, next morning or next day).

Needs more days

A link shows only when Soma has seven days on each side (five for tags) and the difference is bigger than the day-to-day noise. Until then it waits under Needs more days. Keep tagging your days in Track and they fill in.

A link is a pattern in your own days. It doesn't prove one thing causes the other.
