When were Soma's Terms of Use last updated?

Soma's Terms of Use were last revised on September 23, 2026. When the Terms change in a material way, Soma says it will tell you in the app, on somalabs.me or by email before the change takes effect, and using the Services after that means you accept it.

What should I look for in a wellness app's terms of use?

A few sections tell you a lot, and Soma's Terms of Use make a handy example. They say plainly that Soma is a general wellness product and isn't medical care. They say you own the data you put in. And they send disputes to individual arbitration, with a way to opt out if you email legal@somalabs.me within 30 days of first accepting the Terms.

Do wellness apps make you give up your right to go to court?

Soma's Terms of Use send most disputes to arbitration, with some exits. A dispute that isn't settled directly goes to binding, individual arbitration instead of court. Either side can still bring a qualifying claim in small claims court, and you can opt out of arbitration by emailing legal@somalabs.me within 30 days of first accepting the Terms.

Will a free wellness beta start charging me without asking?

Soma says it won't. Its Terms of Use say Soma is free during the beta, and if Soma introduces a paid feature later, it will show you the price and ask for your agreement before you're charged. The beta itself is a pre-release product, so features can change, break or disappear without notice.

What happens to my wellness app agreement if the company gets bought?

Under Soma's Terms of Use, Soma may assign the Terms, for example as part of a merger or acquisition, while you can't assign them. Soma's Privacy Policy adds that in a merger or acquisition, your data stays protected under that policy and Soma will tell you. Nothing in the Terms makes you Soma's partner, agent or employee.

Can I use a wellness app for my business?

Not Soma, going by its Terms of Use. Soma Labs (somalabs.me) gives you a limited, personal license to use its services for your own non-commercial use, and you agree not to resell, rent or provide Soma to others as your own service. Places that want to host Soma Axon, the weekly pod, can tell Soma about their place through its organizations page.

From Terms of Use, For organizations and About.

Can I use a wellness app from outside the United States?

Not Soma, for now. Its Terms of Use say Soma offers its services only in the United States today, and you must be at least 18 and located in the United States to use it. You also confirm that you aren't located in a country subject to a US government embargo.

From Terms of Use.

Can I reverse engineer a wellness app to see how it works?

Only where the law gives you that right, according to Soma's terms. Users agree not to reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble Soma except in that case. They also agree not to access, or try to access, anyone else's data without their authority. Questions about the Terms go to legal@somalabs.me.

How does a weekly pod compare with a whole-body MRI on time and cost?

Soma's guide to full-body scans, with sources read on September 26, 2026, puts a whole-body MRI at 22 to 60 minutes and about $899 to $2,499, with providers suggesting once a year. Soma Axon is listed as a few minutes once a week, with its price not announced. Neither uses radiation. Soma Axon, from Soma Labs (somalabs.me), is a general wellness product that's still being built.

Which uses radiation, a whole-body MRI or a weekly body pod?

Neither, according to Soma's guide. An MRI uses a magnetic field and radio waves, and of the scans the guide compares, only DEXA uses X-rays, at a very low dose. Soma Axon, the weekly pod Palo Alto-based Soma Labs is building, uses no X-rays, no CT and nothing else ionizing. Soma calls it a general wellness product.

How is a weekly body pod different from a 3D body scanner?

They read different things. Soma's guide says a 3D body scanner, found in gyms, measures your body's shape and measurements, estimated fat and lean mass and posture in under a minute, and one maker suggests a scan every 30 to 90 days. Soma Axon reads skin photos, heart and breathing, ECG, EEG, thermal imaging, body composition, balance and grip strength once a week. It's a general wellness product from Soma Labs, a Palo Alto company.

Should I use a smart scale or a weekly body scan pod?

They fit different habits. Soma Labs (somalabs.me) says a smart scale's strength is that it lives at home, where you can step on it every morning in 30 seconds, and it estimates body composition with a very small electrical current. Soma Axon will read body composition the same basic way, while you stand on its plate with your hands on its grips, but it's a place you go to once a week. Soma Axon is a general wellness product and isn't available yet.

Is a smart ring enough, or does a weekly body scan add something?

Soma Labs, a Palo Alto company, sees them as covering different ground. A ring or a watch reads a few signals all day, like pulse, sleep and steps. Soma says a ring covers your nights while Soma Axon covers the week with a whole-body read. The Soma app keeps reading from your phone and watch in between. It's a general wellness product, still being built.

Which kinds of full-body scans take pictures of your organs?

Of the kinds Soma's guide compares, the whole-body MRI is the one that images your organs and tissue. A DEXA scan measures what you're made of, down to bone density, a 3D scanner measures your shape and a smart scale estimates body composition with a small electrical current. Soma Axon doesn't take images of your organs. It's a general wellness pod that Soma Labs, based in Palo Alto, is building for weekly visits.

Which body scans use X-rays and which don't?

According to Soma's guide to full-body scans, DEXA is the one kind among those it compares that uses X-rays, at a very low dose. Some imaging clinics add CT scans of the heart or lungs, which use X-rays too. The others read you with light, cameras, sensors you touch or a small electrical current. Soma Axon, a general wellness product, uses no X-rays, no CT and nothing else ionizing.

How often do different kinds of body scans suggest you come back?

It varies a lot. Soma's guide says whole-body MRI providers suggest once a year, DEXA providers every 3 to 6 months and one 3D scanner maker every 30 to 90 days. Soma Axon is built for a weekly visit, so you can see how your readings change from one week to the next. It's a general wellness product that isn't available yet.

What counts as a full-body scan?

It depends on who's offering it. Soma's guide says a full-body scan can mean an hour in an MRI machine, a few minutes under a DEXA arm or 30 seconds on a smart scale, so it's worth asking what a scan measures before you book it. Soma Axon, which Soma Labs Inc. is building in Palo Alto, California, is a weekly pod that takes a few minutes. Soma classes it as general wellness.

How is a weekly body scan visit different from a check-up with my doctor?

A check-up reads you once a year, and Soma Axon is built to read you every week. At a Soma visit, someone from Soma welcomes you and asks how you slept, when you last ate and whether you trained, so those notes sit next to the numbers. Using Soma doesn't create a clinician-patient relationship, and Soma is a general wellness product that doesn't take the place of your doctor.

How does tracking lean mass with a weekly pod differ from a DEXA scan?

They measure it in different ways. Soma's guide says a DEXA scan reads body fat, visceral fat, lean mass and bone density, using a very low dose of X-rays. Soma Axon will read body composition with a very small electrical current while you stand on its plate with your hands on its grips. It's a general wellness product, and it isn't available yet.

Is Soma Axon a medical device?

It isn't. Soma Labs, the Palo Alto company building Soma Axon, says Soma isn't a medical device or cleared or approved by the FDA. It isn't medical care. In one visit, the pod reads your skin, heart and breathing, body composition, balance and strength. The first prototype is in the works.
