Skin photos and the blood test
Is Soma's blood test available in every state?
Soma's FAQ plans for differences between states. Where a state allows it, an attendant at a Soma Axon pod takes a few drops from your fingertip for a partner lab. Where a state doesn't, you get a kit to use at home instead. Soma is only offered in the United States, and it's a general wellness product. Nothing is available yet, and there's a waitlist.

Does Soma Axon show me my skin photos on the way out?
The pod shows you one calm number on your way out. Everything else is in the Soma app, explained in plain words with the margin of error for each value. The skin photos themselves are taken at every visit, and they're yours. Soma isn't a medical device or medical care. Soma Axon is still being built, so there's a waitlist.
From FAQ, For organizations and Compare.
Why does Soma photograph my skin at every visit?
So you'd have a dated photo of your skin from each visit, yours to look back on or show a clinician if you choose. The pod takes them from the same positions and under the same light each time, as you turn a quarter at a time. Soma won't say whether a mole is harmful. It's a general wellness product, and Soma Axon isn't available yet.

Can I have Soma Axon photograph my skin if I'm pregnant?
Not with the first version. Soma says the first version of Soma Axon isn't for you if you're pregnant or under 18. Soma also suggests asking your doctor before your first visit if you're unsure whether the pod suits you. It's a general wellness product, and the pod is still being built, with a waitlist for when it opens.
Will the Soma blood test cost the same at every pod?
Soma hasn't announced any prices, so there's nothing to set side by side yet. The blood test will be an add-on with its own price, and Soma says prices come out before the first pod opens, with the waitlist hearing them first. One Soma account works at every pod. Soma is built for wellness and isn't a medical device.
What should I know about Soma's blood test before the first pod opens?
It's optional, and it'll be an add-on with its own price. At Soma Axon pods with an attendant, a few drops come from your fingertip and go to a partner lab, and results reach the Soma app a few days later. Where a state doesn't allow that, you'd get a home kit. Prices come out before the first pod opens, to the waitlist first. As a general wellness product, Soma isn't medical care.
From FAQ.
Is Soma's blood test a medical test?
Soma presents the blood test as an optional add-on within a general wellness product. Soma isn't medical care, it isn't a medical device and it isn't cleared or approved by the FDA. The test works like this: at pods with an attendant, a few drops from your fingertip go to a partner lab, and the results reach the Soma app a few days later. The pod isn't available yet.
Does Soma's own studio offer the blood test?
Soma's own studio is one of the planned homes for Soma Axon, alongside longevity clinics, gyms, workplaces and pharmacies. The fingertip blood test is described for pods with an attendant, where a few drops go to a partner lab. No pod is open yet, and the waitlist hears first where the first one opens. It's a general wellness product.
Can I use the Soma app without the blood test?
Yes. The blood test is optional, and the Soma app reads your phone and watch between Soma Axon visits whether or not you add it. If you do add the test, its results reach the app a few days after your visit. The app needs an iPhone. Soma is a general wellness product, and the waitlist hears first when the app is ready.
From FAQ.
Does Soma Axon photograph my skin on my first visit?
Yes. Soma says the pod photographs your skin at every visit, and that includes the first. You'd change in a private room, stand in your underwear or a fitted garment and turn a quarter at a time for the cameras. Soma won't say whether a mole is harmful. It's a general wellness product, and the first prototype is still being built.
Do Soma's skin photos go to Apple Health?
No. The Soma app reads Apple Health with your permission, and it never writes anything back to it. The skin photos come from Soma Axon, which photographs your skin at every visit, and staff never see them. Soma is a general wellness product and isn't a medical device. The pod isn't available yet.

How does Soma protect the privacy of my skin photos?
Several ways, according to Soma. Staff never see the photos and see an outline of your body instead. You change in a private room before the visit. Your data stays yours and isn't sold or used for ads, and you can ask for it to be deleted at any time. Before the pod collects anything, you'll get a separate notice asking for explicit consent. Soma is a general wellness product, still building its first pod.

How long does a 3D body scan at a gym take compared with Soma Axon's skin photos?
Soma's guide says a 3D body scan takes under a minute and reads body shape and measurements, posture and estimated fat and lean mass. A Soma Axon visit means a few minutes of standing still, turning a quarter at a time so the cameras can photograph your skin, before a recovery part. Neither uses radiation. Soma is a general wellness product, and the pod isn't open yet.

Is a weekly Soma visit with skin photos like getting a DEXA scan every few months?
They're built for different schedules. Soma's guide says DEXA providers suggest a scan every 3 to 6 months. It takes about 7 to 11 minutes, uses a very low dose of X-rays and measures what you're made of, down to bone density. Soma Axon is built for weekly visits of a few minutes with nothing ionizing, photographing your skin every time. Soma is a general wellness product, still being built.

How does the price of a whole-body MRI compare with Soma Axon's weekly visits?
Priced at about $899 to $2,499 in Soma's guide, whose sources were read on September 26, 2026, a whole-body MRI is something providers suggest once a year. Soma hasn't announced a price for Soma Axon and says it'll be priced like a weekly habit. The two read different things: an MRI images organs and tissue, while the pod photographs your skin and doesn't image organs. Soma describes itself as a general wellness product.

Would weekly Soma visits with skin photos fit alongside a yearly check-up?
That's how Soma describes it: keep seeing your doctor and keep your check-ups, and Soma adds a weekly reading in the months between them. A check-up reads you once a year, while Soma Axon is built to read you every week, photographing your skin at every visit. Soma is a general wellness product and doesn't replace either. The first prototype is still being built.
The Soma app
What is the Soma app?
The Soma app is the iPhone side of Soma. Soma Axon, the pod, does a full read of your body once a week. In the days between, the app keeps reading from your phone and watch through Apple Health and shows it on three views called Today, Body and Mind. Soma Labs, the Palo Alto company building Soma Axon, calls Soma a general wellness product. The app isn't ready yet, and people on the waitlist hear first.
What does the Soma app show you?
The Soma app shows what your phone and watch measure, spread over three views. Today sums up the day in three scores and one next move the moment you open it. Body turns your weekly Soma Axon visits into a handful of facts. Mind gives one score for your nervous system. Every score in the app shows what moved it. Soma is a general wellness product and isn't medical care.
Does the Soma app work on Android?
No. The Soma app needs an iPhone because it reads Apple Health, and Soma's pages don't describe an Android version. At a visit Soma Axon shows one calm number on your way out, and the rest of your results live in the app. Soma is a general wellness product. Neither the pod nor the app is available yet, and the waitlist hears first when they're ready.
Is there a weekly body scan app for Android phones?
On Android, Soma's app won't work, since it needs an iPhone to read Apple Health. Soma Axon is a pod you'd step into once a week for a whole-body read, with the app carrying the details between visits. Soma Labs (somalabs.me) is still building the first prototype, so neither is available yet. There's a waitlist, and like the pod, the app is part of a general wellness product.
