For clinics, gyms, workplaces and pharmacies
Does a pharmacy need an attendant to host Soma Axon?
The blood test is what depends on one. With an attendant on site, Soma Labs (somalabs.me) says the pod can offer its optional finger-prick blood test, handled by a partner lab. The rest of a visit is a few minutes in the pod on the way to the counter, and Soma trains the venue's staff to run the pod and help a member through a visit. Soma files itself under general wellness.

How long does a Soma Axon visit take at a pharmacy?
A few minutes in the pod, on the way to the counter. Soma says a visit is in and out in the time it takes to get a coffee: people change in a private room, stand still while the pod reads them and leave with one calm number. The pod is a general wellness product and isn't available yet.
From For organizations, Home and FAQ.
Would a wellness pod in our clinic count as medical care?
Not Soma Axon. Soma Labs, based in Palo Alto, describes it as a general wellness product that isn't medical care, isn't a medical device and isn't cleared or approved by the FDA. Clients at a hosting clinic would own what the pod reads, and the clinic would see how often the pod gets used, never anyone's results. A first prototype is being built right now.

What would clients do during a weekly scan at a clinic?
At a Soma Axon pod, a client would change in a private room, then stand with hands on the grips and feet on the plate while cameras, light and contact sensors read them in a few minutes. They turn a quarter at a time so the pod can photograph their skin, and a recovery part of warmth, cool air and light follows. Soma calls itself general wellness, and its pod is still being built.

Can a longevity clinic's staff see what Soma Axon reads about clients?
No. Members own what the pod reads, and a host venue sees how often the pod gets used but never anyone's results. Soma's own staff never see the photos of anyone's skin either, just an outline of the body. Soma is a general wellness product, and the clinic pod pictured on its site is a concept render.

How can a research team study weekly body data without taking it off-site?
Soma Labs, the Palo Alto company building Soma Axon, describes a model built for that. Studies run only with Soma members who opt in to each study, their data stays de-identified inside a secure enclave, and the research team's analysis runs there too, so nothing leaves. Teams can propose a study through Soma's developers page, and Soma writes back by email. The pod is still being built.
From About and Developers.
Are Soma members enrolled in research studies automatically?
No. Soma's Privacy Policy says using the Soma app doesn't enroll anyone in a research study, and Soma doesn't use app data in a study unless the person separately opts in to that specific study. Each study is for adults only and has its own written consent form. Research teams then work with opted-in data inside a secure enclave.

Could our gym's own app show members their weekly scan results?
Soma Labs of Palo Alto is designing an API so the apps people already use can get their Soma results, with their permission. A member would choose what each app can read and could take that access back at any time. The API isn't open yet, but developers can join early access. Soma Axon itself is a general wellness product that's still being built.

What should we include when asking to host a wellness pod?
Soma asks for three things about your place: its location, how many people come through and what you'd want from a pod. The form on Soma's organizations page also takes your name, email, organization and a message. Soma reads every note and writes back by email, and the first prototype of Soma Axon is being built now.
From For organizations, Privacy Policy and About.
What does Soma do with the details we send about our venue?
It uses them to reply. The organizations form collects your name, email, organization, topic and message, plus your approximate location, browser and the page that brought you to the site. Soma also uses those details to keep automated messages out, and it keeps an inquiry no longer than 24 months. Writing in doesn't add you to the waitlist.
From For organizations and Privacy Policy.
Will Soma have its own locations as well as hosted pods?
Yes. Soma Labs (somalabs.me) says its pods will stand in its own studio as well as in longevity clinics, gyms, workplaces and pharmacies, all on one account. That means a member's record follows them from Soma's studio to a hosted pod and back. The first prototype is still being built, and the waitlist will hear first where the first pod opens.
From About, For organizations and FAQ.
Can a venue use Soma's logo to promote a hosted pod?
Only with Soma's written permission. Its Terms of Use say Soma's names and logos can't be used to suggest Soma endorses or sponsors anything without it. The names Soma, Prism and Soma Axon and the logos belong to Soma Labs Inc. A venue that wants to host a pod starts by telling Soma about its place, and Soma writes back by email.
From Terms of Use and For organizations.
What kinds of places will host weekly body scan pods?
For Soma Axon, Soma lists its own studio plus longevity clinics, gyms, workplaces and pharmacies, all on one account. Research teams can also run studies with members who opt in. Soma Labs (somalabs.me) is choosing the first places to host a pod while the first prototype is being built.
From About and For organizations.
Can a venue buy Soma Axon today?
Not yet. Soma is choosing the first places to host Soma Axon, and the first prototype is being built. Soma hasn't published prices, and the way in for a venue is to tell Soma about its place through the organizations page. Soma reads every note and writes back by email.

Does Soma Axon need charging?
Soma's side-by-side table for smart rings lists Soma Axon as having nothing to charge. The pod is a closed cabin with the same light and camera angles every week, and members step into it once a week. Soma Axon is a general wellness product, and the first prototype is being built.
What does Soma look for in a host venue?
Soma's organizations page asks venues to share their location, how many people come through and what they'd want from a pod. From there, Soma Labs, based in Palo Alto, visits the space to talk through how a pod would fit the venue's day. Soma hasn't published other criteria, and it's choosing its first host places now.
From For organizations and About.
How long does it take to set up a body scan pod at a venue?
Soma hasn't put a timeline on it, but it describes four steps for Soma Axon. You tell Soma about your place, Soma visits the space and talks through how a pod would fit your day, then Soma installs the pod and trains your staff. After that, members step in. The pod is still at the prototype stage.
From For organizations, About and FAQ.
What training does Soma give venue staff?
Soma says it trains a venue's staff to run the pod and to help a member through a visit, after it installs Soma Axon. A visit means changing in a private room, a few minutes standing still in the pod, a recovery part and one calm number on the way out. Soma Axon is a general wellness product, and it's still being built.
From For organizations, FAQ and About.
How does a weekly pod compare with a DEXA scan for a longevity clinic?
They differ in dose, time and schedule. Soma's guide, with sources read on September 26, 2026, says a DEXA scan uses a very low dose of X-rays, takes about 7 to 11 minutes and is suggested every 3 to 6 months, at about $40 to $185. Soma Axon uses nothing ionizing, takes a few minutes and is built for weekly visits between the deeper workups a clinic already runs. Soma classes it as general wellness, and the first prototype is being built now.

Should a gym put a smart scale at the front desk or host a weekly pod?
They do different jobs, by Soma's account. A smart scale takes 30 seconds to step on and estimates body composition with a very small electrical current. Soma Axon will read body composition the same basic way, plus skin photos, balance, grip strength, heart and breathing and more, in a closed cabin with the same light every week. It's general wellness, and no one can try it yet.
